Less than a month before Lara Croft's classic adventures make their comeback, publisher Aspyr has delivered on their promise to share some much-anticipated news about the upcoming Tomb Raider I-III Remastered release for the Nintendo Switch on February 14th.

While no gameplay footage has been shown yet, Aspyr, known for publishing older titles on Macintosh computers until 2003, has provided a detailed breakdown of the features included in the package on the PlayStation Blog. Collaborating with Crystal Dynamics, the developers focused on three key aspects: engineering, gameplay, and art.

Among the highlights shared by Aspyr are significant updates to the controls. Players can now choose between the classic control scheme, known as "Tank Controls," which was common in '90s games and relies on the character's position rather than the camera's position, or the "Modern Controls" inspired by the later era of the series.

Another notable addition is the introduction of health bars for bosses. In the original PlayStation games, players had no visibility into a boss's health until it was defeated. However, in the remastered version, every boss will have a visible health bar, giving players a better understanding of their progress and allowing for more strategic weapon choices.

To enhance the gaming experience, a Photo Mode has also been implemented. This feature enables players to freeze gameplay at any moment, switch between classic and modern visuals, and capture iconic moments throughout their playthroughs.

Aspyr has further confirmed several other updates, including a graphics toggle available even in Photo Mode, a brand new character model for Lara Croft, new models, environments, and enemies with a more contemporary aesthetic, and the replacement of sprites for items with 3D models.

Pre-orders for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered are now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop in Europe and North America, with a 10% discount offered to those who pre-order before February 15th.

In an exciting addition, Nintendo of America showcased two new outfits that players will have the opportunity to unlock in the remastered games: the Antarctic Outfit and the Wetsuit Outfit.

With these exciting updates unveiled, fans are eagerly anticipating the release of the remastered trilogy. Only time will tell if these beloved classics truly receive the attention they deserve. As the launch date draws near, we hope to see more gameplay footage and further details about what awaits players in these seminal games.
