Apple is reportedly preparing to release its highly anticipated Vision Pro mixed-reality headset in March, according to reports from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The tech giant had initially planned for a January release but is now focusing on final device testing and distribution plans.

The Vision Pro, priced at $3,499, was first unveiled by Apple in June, with an initial projected release date set for early 2024. However, Apple's current timeline still aligns with its original plan.

The United States will be the first country to experience the launch of the Vision Pro, with additional countries like Canada and the United Kingdom expected to have access by the end of the year. Apple is likely to take advantage of its annual spring event in March to showcase the features and capabilities of the headset.

The Vision Pro operates on visionOS, a specially designed software described by Apple as "the first OS designed for the ground up for spatial computing." With its three-dimensional interface, the software offers a unique experience, liberating apps from the confines of traditional displays.

Apple has confirmed that the App Store for the Vision Pro will include all compatible iPhone and iPad apps by default. Additionally, over 100 Apple Arcade titles will be available to play on VisionOS at the time of launch.

In contrast to other augmented reality headsets on the market, the Vision Pro does not integrate the battery pack directly into the device itself. Instead, a wire connects to a separate battery pack, which provides up to two hours of usage. Alternatively, users can opt for all-day use by plugging the device into a power outlet.

The Vision Pro packs the standard M2 chip, coupled with a new R1 chip responsible for video streaming. With micro-OLED technology, the headset boasts a remarkable 23 million pixels across two displays. Another unique feature is "EyeSight," which utilizes a front-facing display to showcase a user's eyes to those in the vicinity.

With its hefty price tag, the Vision Pro appears to primarily target enterprise buyers, rather than regular consumers. However, experts speculate that the inclusion of "Pro" in the device's name suggests the possibility of a more affordable version in the future.

As anticipation builds for the launch of Apple's Vision Pro mixed-reality headset, technology enthusiasts and professionals alike eagerly await the immersive experiences that this cutting-edge device promises to deliver.
