Hockey Hall of Famer and former Red Wing, Chris Chelios, will have his number raised to the rafters at the United Center in a ceremony that will kick off the showdown between the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings. Chelios, who played for the Blackhawks from 1990 to 1999 before being traded to Detroit, will be honored for his contributions to both teams.

The Red Wings, coming off a dominant performance against the St. Louis Blues, are aiming to spoil the Blackhawks' festivities by extending their four-game win streak. Led by Alex Debrincat's three-point night and solid goaltending from Alex Lyon, Detroit continues to solidify their position in the race for a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Currently fourth in the Atlantic Division, the Red Wings are six points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs for third place and hold the first Wild Card spot, six points ahead of the New Jersey Devils. Meanwhile, the Blackhawks, who are struggling to secure a playoff spot, have had a rough season and are one point behind the San Jose Sharks for the worst record in the NHL.

This game marks the second and final meeting of the season between the longtime rivals, with the Red Wings having emerged victorious in their first encounter back in late November in Detroit. As the excitement builds for Chelios' special night, both teams are gearing up for a competitive battle on the ice at the United Center.
