Purdue standout Zach Edey has declared that he will not be taking advantage of the extra season of eligibility granted due to COVID-19 and will conclude his college basketball career after this season. Edey, who currently ranks second in scoring and third in rebounding among all Division I players this season, has been a dominant force for the Boilermakers.

Coach Matt Painter confirmed that this season will mark Edey's farewell at the college level. Last season, Edey showcased impressive stats and earned national Player of the Year recognition. This season, he has performed even better, leading Purdue to a 25-3 record and a potential No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Edey's remarkable Player Efficiency Rating underscores his exceptional performance and puts him on track to potentially repeat as Player of the Year. The last player to achieve this feat was Ralph Sampson at Virginia in the early 1980s.

Despite a disappointing early exit from last year's NCAA Tournament as a No. 1 seed, Purdue is determined to secure another Big Ten championship and aims to make a strong comeback in this year's March Madness. The team currently holds the third-best odds to win the title, trailing behind UConn and Houston.

As Edey prepares to conclude his remarkable college career, the basketball world eagerly anticipates his final games with the Boilermakers, celebrating his contributions and impact on the court.
