Phoenix Raceway is gearing up to host the Shriners Children's 500, the first of two races to be held at the Avondale, Arizona, track this season. Fans will be eager to see if a new victor will emerge on Sunday, adding to the list of winners that includes William Byron, Daniel Suárez, and Kyle Larson so far this NASCAR Cup Series season.

Defending champion William Byron, who secured a victory at the Daytona 500 last month, will enter the race with high hopes. In his previous win, Byron outperformed other formidable drivers such as Ryan Blaney, Tyler Reddick, Larson, and Kevin Harvick. Throughout the race, he maintained a strong position and emerged as the leader at the end of Stage 1.

Kyle Larson, the current leader in the drivers' standings, will be a strong contender to watch out for in the Shriners Children's 500. Last weekend, Larson finished in first place at Las Vegas, with Reddick closely behind in second. Their recent success may give them an added boost going into the upcoming race.

Eight points separate Larson from second-place driver Ryan Blaney, making the drivers' championship an exciting battle to watch.

Phoenix Raceway, known for its unique dogleg oval shape, offers an exhilarating challenge for the drivers. With its various turns and banking angles ranging from 3 degrees on the start-finish straightaway and backstretch to 10-11 degrees on the dogleg and turns, competitors will need to demonstrate skill and precision throughout the 1-mile track.

In terms of historical performance, Chase Briscoe emerged victorious in the 2022 race, preceded by Martin Truex Jr. and Joey Logano. Notably, the March Phoenix race has not seen consecutive winners since Kevin Harvick's impressive three-in-a-row wins between 2014 and 2016.

Excitement is building as NASCAR fans eagerly await the command to "start your engines" at Phoenix Raceway for the Shriners Children's 500. The race is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. and can be watched on FOX.

As the season progresses, motorsports enthusiasts will be keeping a close eye on the NASCAR Cup Series and the thrilling races yet to come.
