NASCAR has made the decision to postpone the season-opening Daytona 500 until Monday due to two days of rain at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. The race, originally scheduled to start on Sunday afternoon, faced uncertainties as heavy rain loomed over the venue, leading to the cancellation of final practice and the Xfinity Series race on Saturday.

Joey Logano of Team Penske is set to start from the pole position when the Daytona 500 takes place on Monday at 4 p.m. The last time the prestigious event was postponed for a full day was back in 2012, following a similar weather-related issue.

In a proactive move, NASCAR called off the race ahead of time on Sunday, preventing fans from waiting in the rain for a decision on the event's status. This strategic decision aligns with NASCAR's recent approach of adjusting schedules quickly in response to adverse weather conditions, as evidenced by the recent rescheduling of the Clash at the Coliseum earlier this month in Los Angeles.

The Xfinity Series race has been rescheduled for Monday morning, just hours before the highly anticipated Daytona 500 will kick off. Despite the delay, fans and drivers alike are eager to witness the exhilarating race unfold at the iconic Daytona International Speedway.
