In a surprising move, Miami Hurricanes running back Henry Parrish has decided to move on from the program and has expressed his intention to enter his name into the college football transfer portal. This news comes as the 15-day spring window is set to open on April 15, according to sources at InsideTheU.

Parrish's departure leaves the Hurricanes with only three scholarship running backs available for the remainder of spring football. With only redshirt sophomore TreVonte' Citizen, redshirt freshman Chris Johnson, and true freshman Chris Wheatley-Humphrey currently healthy and participating, the running back room is experiencing a shortage of depth. However, walk-on tailback Terrell Walden has been taking reps alongside the scholarship players.

The absence of Parrish will be felt on the field, as he has been the team's leading rusher for the past two seasons. A native of Miami, Parrish initially signed with Ole Miss after graduating from nearby Columbus High. After spending two seasons in Oxford, Mississippi, where he accumulated 786 yards and five touchdowns, Parrish transferred to Miami. During his time with the Hurricanes, he made his mark by leading the team in rushing yards for consecutive seasons.

In his tenure with Miami, Parrish showcased his skill and versatility, amassing 1,242 yards and ten touchdowns while averaging an impressive 5.5 yards per carry. He registered four 100-plus yard rushing games, with his highest total being 139 yards in a victory against Temple last fall.

As the Hurricanes bid farewell to Parrish, they will also be looking to the future. The team is set to welcome highly sought-after true freshman running back Jordan Lyle, who hails from Fort Lauderdale's St. Thomas Aquinas. Lyle, ranked as the No. 15 tailback by 247Sports in the 2024 recruiting cycle, is expected to join the roster this summer.

While it remains uncertain where Parrish will land in his transfer, his departure leaves a gap in Miami's running back corps. The coaching staff will need to rely on the remaining players to step up and fill the void as they continue their preparations for the upcoming season.

As the spring window opens, all eyes will be on the Hurricanes' running back room, both in anticipation of a potential transfer addition and the development of the remaining players. Fans and the coaching staff alike will closely monitor the progress of Citizen, Johnson, and Wheatley-Humphrey as they aim to make an impact in the backfield.
