In a significant move that signals confidence and stability within the organization, the Detroit Lions have announced contract extensions for head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes. Both Campbell and Holmes will remain with the Lions through the 2027 season.

Lions owner Sheila Hamp expressed her excitement about the extensions, stating, "We are thrilled to have Brad and Dan under contract for the next four seasons. They have been the driving force behind the rebuild of our football team and the success that we have enjoyed." Hamp also emphasized the importance of continuity in the team's future success on the field.

When Campbell was initially hired in 2021, he signed a six-year contract. This recent extension adds an additional year, indicating the organization's satisfaction with his leadership. It is expected that this extension also includes a well-deserved raise for Campbell. The decision to extend both contracts comes as no surprise, considering the Lions' notable achievements in recent seasons.

In 2023, the Lions achieved a franchise record of 12 regular-season wins, showcasing the team's progress under the guidance of Campbell and Holmes. Building on this success, they secured two playoff wins last season, surpassing their previous record of one playoff win during the entire Super Bowl era prior to 2023.

In addition to the extensions for Holmes and Campbell, the Lions also announced a "multi-year" extension for Chris Spielman, the team's special assistant. The team's president and CEO, Rod Wood, expressed his pride in the trio's accomplishments, stating, "They have selflessly worked together to build a winning culture within the Lions. I am excited to continue working with them to create the sustained success that we envision for the team, our fans, and the city of Detroit."

With the contract extensions of coach Dan Campbell, GM Brad Holmes, and special assistant Chris Spielman, the Detroit Lions are solidifying their foundation for future growth and success. As the team continues to make moves in free agency, these contract extensions provide stability and a clear vision for the Lions' future in the NFL.
