In a recent Instagram post, veteran safety Tracy Walker expressed gratitude for his six years with the Detroit Lions. However, with Walker's release anticipated, the post is seen as a possible farewell message. The decision to release Walker, a third-round pick in the 2018 draft, comes as he is due a significant raise in 2024. This move will free up $5.5 million in cap space for the Lions, although Walker will still count for over $7 million in dead cap. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett both confirm Walker's impending release. During his time with the team, Walker played 79 games, starting in 43, and amassed 398 tackles, 23 passes defended, and three interceptions.
