In a shocking turn of events, Detroit Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton is currently wanted in Florida for alleged domestic battery by strangulation, as announced by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday. Despite the police department's multiple attempts to make contact, Sutton has remained elusive, leaving authorities unable to locate him for several weeks, according to ESPN reports.

The incident in question was initially reported to police on March 7, involving an alleged domestic dispute. The victim's identity is being withheld at this time. Despite the ongoing investigation, Sutton has not yet returned inquiries from Hillsborough County police.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has now reached out to the public for assistance in locating Sutton. They have revealed that the NFL veteran may be driving a Jeep Grand Wagoneer with the license plate number FL-AZ33QB. So far, authorities have been unsuccessful in finding Sutton at his Pinellas County residence. Any information regarding his whereabouts should be reported to 813-247-8200.

The Detroit Lions organization released a statement on Wednesday addressing the situation: "We became aware of the ongoing legal situation involving Cam Sutton this morning. We will continue to monitor the situation and will not have further comment at this time." Sutton, who signed a lucrative three-year, $33 million contract with the Lions last offseason, has since become a key player for the team.

The 29-year-old cornerback started all 17 games in the 2023 season, recording six pass deflections and one interception. His contributions were instrumental in helping the Lions advance to the NFC Championship. Prior to joining Detroit, Sutton spent six seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, amassing eight interceptions and nearly 40 pass breakups in 39 starts.

Sutton is expected to earn $12.7 million in 2024 and was slated to start alongside recent trade acquisition Carlton Davis as the Lions' starting corner. However, this pending legal situation has raised questions about his availability for the upcoming season.

As the investigation unfolds, both the Lions organization and football fans alike await further updates on the Cameron Sutton case.
