NASCAR officials have delayed the season-opening Daytona 500 until Monday following two days of inclement weather at Daytona International Speedway in Florida. The race, originally set for Sunday, faced uncertainties due to the week-long weather forecast. Consequently, the final practice session and the Xfinity Series race were both canceled on Saturday as rain persisted. The Xfinity Series race has been rescheduled for Monday morning, preceding the Daytona 500, which is expected to commence at 4 p.m. Joey Logano, driving for Team Penske, will start from the pole position. The last time the Daytona 500 was postponed for an entire day was back in 2012. In 2020, NASCAR managed to complete only 20 laps before rain forced a halt, leading to a resumption of the race the following day.
