The NASCAR season-opening Daytona 500 has been postponed until Monday due to two days of rain at Daytona International Speedway. The Xfinity Series race, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, has also been rescheduled to take place Monday morning. Joey Logano is set to start from the pole position for Team Penske when the Daytona 500 finally gets underway. The last time the Daytona 500 was postponed a full day was in 2012, and in 2020, rain interrupted the race after completing 20 laps. NASCAR's decision to postpone the race to Monday was made early on Sunday, allowing fans to avoid sitting in the rain awaiting a decision on whether the race would proceed. This move follows NASCAR's previous decision to reschedule the Clash at the Coliseum in Los Angeles due to poor weather conditions earlier this month.
