In a stunning turnaround, DaRon Holmes II and the seventh-seeded Dayton Flyers staged a remarkable rally in the March Madness tournament, erasing a 17-point deficit to defeat the tenth-seeded Nevada Wolf Pack by a score of 63-60 in the West Region.

Holmes, the Atlantic 10 player of the year, showcased his ability by contributing 18 points, including a crucial three-point play with just over two minutes remaining that gave Dayton their first lead since the first half. The Flyers, who trailed 56-39 with 7:36 remaining, responded with an impressive 17-0 run to take control of the game.

Koby Brea played a crucial role in Dayton's comeback, making two critical three-pointers during the impressive run. Brea finished the game with 15 points, providing much-needed offensive firepower for his team.

Enoch Cheeks took center stage in the closing seconds of the game, sinking a clutch layup to give Dayton the lead for good. He then sealed the victory with two free throws, contributing 12 points overall in the game. This win marked the Flyers' first NCAA Tournament victory in nine years.

Dayton's impressive display sets up an enticing second-round matchup against the second-seeded Arizona on Saturday. As the Flyers head into the next round, they will be riding the momentum of converting their last seven baskets when it mattered the most.

On the other side, Jarrod Lucas led the charge for the Wolf Pack with 17 points, while Kenan Blackshear and Nick Davidson both contributed 15 points each. Nevada initially appeared to have control of the match, closing the first half on a 16-0 run, but were unable to sustain their lead against Dayton's tenacious play.

Despite their strong performance in the Mountain West conference, the Wolf Pack suffered another early exit from the NCAA Tournament, marking their third consecutive first-round loss since their impressive Sweet 16 run in 2018.

This victory holds particular significance for Dayton coach Anthony Grant, who picked up his first March Madness win with the Flyers in his seventh season. Grant had previously secured his only other NCAA Tournament victory with VCU in 2007.

The game saw a tale of two halves, with Nevada dominating the first half by denying Holmes the ball and mounting a spectacular run to take the lead at halftime. However, Dayton's resilience and determination turned the tide in the second half, showcasing their ability to overcome adversity.

Dayton's remarkable comeback victory against Nevada will undoubtedly serve as an inspiration and confidence boost as they prepare to face off against the formidable Arizona Wildcats in the upcoming round of March Madness.
