The Chicago Bears are taking a distinctive approach during this year's NFL scouting combine as they aim to assess potential draft picks through a series of engaging interviews and evaluations. Coach Matt Eberflus revealed that the Bears will once again utilize an icebreaker activity that proved successful in previous years to kickstart conversations with prospects.

During the 18-minute combine interviews, Bears coaches will not only delve into the prospects' football knowledge but also seek to understand their personalities and learning methods. General Manager Ryan Poles emphasized the importance of spending time with prospects to determine their fit within the team culture.

As the Bears consider their options with the No. 1 draft pick, the process becomes even more crucial. Despite the absence of top quarterback prospects like USC's Caleb Williams and North Carolina's Drake Maye in on-field drills at the combine, teams still find value in the medical examinations and interviews conducted during the event.

Former Bears director of player personnel Josh Lucas highlighted the significance of these interviews in identifying exceptional players or potential concerns among prospects. The combine serves as a primary opportunity for teams to establish initial connections with players and gain insight into their backgrounds and motivations.

Looking ahead, the Bears and other NFL teams are poised to use the combine as a pivotal step in the pre-draft evaluation process, where interviews can play a significant role in shaping draft decisions and forming early impressions of prospective players.
