In an effort to bounce back from their recent poor performance, the St. Louis Blues are shaking up their lineup as they prepare to take on the Edmonton Oilers tonight. Head Coach Drew Bannister will be implementing several changes in hopes of securing a victory and turning their season around.
One notable change will be seen on the first line, as Brandon Saad joins Robert Thomas and Jake Neighbours. This combination was used towards the end of their previous game against San Jose and showed promise. Bannister believes that having strength down the middle against Edmonton will be crucial.
Pavel Buchnevich, who recently sat out, will return to action as a center on the second line alongside Jordan Kyrou and Alexey Toropchenko. This move demonstrates the coach's confidence in Buchnevich's abilities and the desire to boost the team's scoring capabilities.
Captain Brayden Schenn will join the third line, playing alongside Kasperi Kapanen and Kevin Hayes. Bannister emphasizes the importance of Schenn's leadership and hopes that this line will bring a new dynamic to the Blues' game.
Exciting news for rookie Zach Dean, as he is set to make his third career NHL appearance on the fourth line. Dean will be skating alongside Nathan Walker and Sammy Blais, aiming to provide energy and contribute to the team's offensive efforts.
Defensively, Torey Krug will be reunited with Justin Faulk on the blue line. Tyler Tucker and Marco Scandella will also come back into the lineup, replacing Scott Perunovich and Matthew Kessel. Bannister believes that Tucker and Scandella will bring an added physical presence to the defense, providing the team with more pushback.
In net, Jordan Binnington will get the nod as the starting goaltender for the Blues. Binnington's solid performances have often given the team a chance to win, and the Blues will rely on him to make key saves against a potent Oilers offense.
The Blues will be looking to close out their four-game home stand on a positive note and kick off their eight-game April slate with a win. With the strategic lineup changes made by Coach Bannister, the team aims to show more edge and regain their winning form. puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. and the game will be broadcasted on ESPN+/Hulu and 101 ESPN.
