In preparation for their Premier League clash with Brentford, Arsenal has made important changes to their starting lineup. The Gunners have confirmed that Bukayo Saka is fit to start the match, while Gabriel Martinelli has been ruled out due to injury.
During Arsenal's commanding 6-0 victory against Sheffield United on Monday, both Saka and Martinelli were forced off the pitch early. Saka was substituted at half-time due to illness, while Martinelli had to be replaced in the second half after sustaining a foot injury.
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, stated on Thursday that they were hopeful both players would be available for the match against Brentford. However, Martinelli's injury has prevented his inclusion in the squad. Leandro Trossard will take his place in the starting lineup.
In addition to Martinelli's absence, goalkeeper David Raya will sit out the match as he is ineligible to face his parent club. This presents an opportunity for Aaron Ramsdale, who Arteta expressed confidence in, stating that the goalkeeper is fully prepared and eager to play.
Oleksandr Zinchenko, who missed the previous match due to a calf injury, will make his return to the squad as a substitute.
Despite an upcoming crucial Champions League second leg against Porto, Arteta emphasized that his full focus is on the Brentford match. Jorginho is set to start in midfield, with Kai Havertz leading the line for Arsenal.
The Gunners will look to maintain their winning momentum and secure a positive result against Brentford to continue their ascent in the Premier League table. The match is scheduled for Saturday, providing Ramsdale with a valuable opportunity to demonstrate his skills in goal.
