The Montreal team enjoyed a terrific victory over Charlotte on the 15th of July, 2023 at Stade Saputo, Montreal, Quebec. By the end of the game, Montreal managed to edge Charlotte by 2 goals to none.
Montreal set the tone early in the match and scored their first goal at the 29th minute, with a stellar performance from Kwadwo Opoku. The team then increased its lead with Nnamdi Chinonso Offor finding the back of the net at the 31st minute. Both goals happened in quick succession, leaving Charlotte little time to counteract. Joel Waterman assisted the second goal, showcasing the wonderful team play of Montreal.
Montréal stayed in control of the game, effectively shutting down Charlotte from scoring. It was indeed a clean sheet for Jonathan Sirois, the Montréal goalkeeper.
On the Charlotte side, however, it was a rough game with two of their players, Bill Tuiloma and Jan Sobociński, awarded yellow cards in the 60th and the 85th minute respectively. Their defence could not withstand the attack force from Montréal resulting in a loss.
Montreal made a total of five substitutions, rotating key players to prevent injuries or fatigue, whereas Charlotte made four substitutions throughout the match period.
Both teams will go back to their respective training grounds to prepare for their next matches on 20th August 2023. Montreal will face off against Toronto, promising a thrilling Canadian derby, whilst Charlotte will take on Inter Miami, a match fans are eagerly waiting to watch.
