In a resounding victory at Soldier Field, Chicago, the Chicago Fire team outperformed Montréal with a full-time score of 3-0 on the 13th of July, 2023. A remarkable attendance was noted for the clash, witnessing how the local team dominated the match from the very early stages.

Firing the opening salvo, Brian Gutierrez, assisted by Georgios Koutsias, claimed the first goal for Chicago Fire just nine minutes into the game. A mere two minutes later, Maren Haile-Selassie, assisted by Xherdan Shaqiri, doubled the lead and made it 2-0. Shaqiri further stamped Chicago Fire's control over the match with an excellent goal in the 34th minute, with an assist from Haile-Selassie, extending their lead to 3-0. Social media echoed the excitement over Shaqiri's excellent finish, with one user sharing, "Chicago Fire [3]-0 CF Montréal - Xherdan Shaqiri 34' (great goal)"

Cornered and under pressure, Montréal was unable to answer with a goal throughout the match, leaving the halftime and full-time scores both stuck at a 3-0 advantage for Chicago Fire.

Chicago Fire's coach, F. Klopas, orchestrated a noticeable game plan which resulted in his team's dominating performances. The other side's coach, H. Losada, has his work cut out for him after his team's lackluster showing.

Despite the commanding performance, Chicago Fire didn't shy away from playing aggressively with Arnaud Souquet, Rafael Czichos, and Mauricio Pineda all receiving yellow cards.

It's important to note the strategic changes made by both coaches during the match. On the local team's side, key substitutions included J. Torres, K. Kamara, J. Dean, A. Aceves, and M. Rodríguez. Meanwhile, Montréal brought in S. Piette, A. Herrera, C. Offor, Ahmed Hamdi, and J. Vilsaint in an attempt to turn the tide of the match. C. Offor received a yellow card shortly after his appearance on the field.

Looking ahead, Chicago Fire will be battling it out with Toronto on the 16th of July, 2023. Montréal, nonetheless, will take on Charlotte on July 15, 2023, hoping for a much more favorable outcome.
