In a thrilling yet highly dangerous car stunt, popular YouTuber Alex Choi is now facing federal charges after directing a video in which a helicopter shot fireworks at a speeding Lamborghini. The US Justice Department announced on Thursday that Choi, 24, has been charged with causing the placement of an explosive or incendiary device on an aircraft.

If convicted, Choi could potentially face up to 10 years in federal prison for his involvement in the video. Prosecutors argue that last July, Choi posted a video titled "Destroying a Lamborghini with Fireworks", which was filmed without proper permits. Although the video has been taken down since then, authorities claim it depicted Choi pressing a "fire missiles" button while two women aboard the helicopter launched fireworks at the sports car as it raced through a desert landscape.

Choi, who has amassed over a million followers on Instagram and nearly the same number of YouTube subscribers, is known for his entertaining and adrenaline-fueled car stunts, or what he refers to as "the greatest car shenanigans." Some of his previous videos showcased high-speed accelerations and even taking a Lamborghini through a gas station car wash.

The Associated Press attempted to contact Choi via Instagram and his talent agency but received no response. He did not provide any comment on the federal charges against him. Yesterday, Choi appeared in court, and a federal magistrate judge ordered his release on a $50,000 bond. An arraignment has been scheduled for July 2, during which Choi will have the opportunity to enter a plea.

This stunning turn of events serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences when attempting dangerous stunts without proper authorization and safety measures. Authorities will now focus on fully investigating the incident and ensuring that justice is served in this case.
