MIAMI - In a shocking incident late Saturday night, a woman was stabbed multiple times and nearly thrown over a balcony at Miami International Airport, leaving her fighting for her life. The unprovoked attack took place in the International Arrivals section of Terminal J, prompting a swift response from uniformed officers.

According to Miami-Dade Police, the woman and a man were on the fourth floor when the man suddenly launched a vicious assault. He repeatedly stabbed the woman and attempted to throw her over the railing. However, she managed to escape his clutches and ran down to the third floor, where she was located by officers.

In a video shared with CBS News Miami, the wounded woman can be seen sitting in the waiting area, bleeding and in need of immediate medical attention. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and swiftly transported her to the JMH Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.

Eyewitnesses described a scene of chaos as the attack unfolded. With several flights arriving at the time, people either rushed to assist the victim or fled in fear upon hearing the turmoil. One witness recounted, "We heard the escalation of a fight... And somebody said 'run!' So, you literally had a line of 100 to 200 people."

The incident occurred in a crowded part of the airport, leaving many onlookers shocked that such violence could occur in such a busy and bustling area. Another witness shared, "There was a lot of people saying how it was really scary...everyone was running."

As a precautionary measure, authorities briefly shut down services in the area and evacuated Terminals J and H. However, the airport has since resumed normal operations. Detective Angel Rodriguez of the Miami-Dade Police assured the public that the situation was firmly under control.

In a statement released by Miami International Airport, they reiterated their commitment to passenger and staff safety, stating, "We want to assure the public that the situation is under control...Authorities responded immediately, and the situation was swiftly contained."

During the incident, there were also reports of a possible active shooter on scene. However, following an investigation, law enforcement officials determined that there was no active shooter present.

As the investigation into the incident continues, detectives are currently interviewing the male suspect. The identities of the man and woman involved, along with further details about the stabbing, have not been disclosed by the police.
