In a tragic incident, a woman succumbed to her injuries after being stabbed in the neck on a Metro train in Studio City on Monday morning, according to authorities. The attack took place in the 3900 block of Lankershim Boulevard, prompting an immediate response from the Los Angeles Police Department.

Initially, it was believed that the stabbing occurred as the woman was exiting the train at the Universal/Studio City station. However, further investigation revealed that the attack actually took place on the train itself, between the last stop and the Universal City station. Detective Meghan Aguilar confirmed that both the victim and the suspect disembarked at the Universal City station.

Emergency responders rushed the woman, described as being in her 50s, to the hospital but unfortunately, she could not be saved. Authorities have not yet released the victim's name.

A man was detained at the Ventura/Vineland bus station, just a few blocks away from the crime scene. Law enforcement strongly believes that this individual is the suspect responsible for the stabbing. The identity of the suspect has not been made public at this time.

Based on preliminary investigations, officials have stated that there were no prior incidents or altercations reported before the attack, leading them to believe that the stabbing was a random act of violence.

In response to the incident, the Universal/Studio City Metro station has been temporarily closed. Metro officials are working closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of passengers in the area.
