In a recent interview on Piers Morgan's YouTube talk show "Piers Morgan Uncensored," Fiona Harvey, who is believed to have inspired the character of Martha in Richard Gadd's Netflix hit series "Baby Reindeer," denied being a stalker. Harvey announced her intention to take legal action against both Netflix and Gadd, asserting that the truth would emerge during the legal process.

During the interview, Harvey refuted the claim that she had sent over 41,000 emails and 100 letters to Gadd while allegedly stalking him, stating, "I didn't write him the emails." When asked about the origin of the emails, Harvey speculated that Gadd may have fabricated them himself, admitting, "I've no idea."

Although Harvey admitted to being acquainted with Gadd after meeting him at the Hawley Arms pub in Camden, she asserted that she had not watched the show but had been informed about key scenes by friends and reporters who approached her. Describing the situation as "obscene" and "horrendous," Harvey emphasized that "Baby Reindeer" is a work of fiction and hyperbole.

"Baby Reindeer," a limited series produced by Clerkenwell Films, quickly soared to the top of Netflix's most popular shows list after its release last month. Based on Gadd's live show, the series recounts his real-life experiences of transitioning from a barman to a comedian, including a six-month period of being stalked by a customer and enduring sexual assault from an industry acquaintance he had hoped would mentor him.

Gadd claimed to have altered enough details about his stalker, now named Martha and portrayed by Jessica Gunning, to prevent her from being recognized. However, fans soon identified a woman named Fiona Harvey as a potential match using online sources. In the show, Martha is depicted as a Scottish fantasist who falsely claims to be a high-powered lawyer with influential political connections but in reality has a stalking conviction. Over the course of six months, Martha bombards Gadd's character, Donny, with thousands of emails, targets his parents, and assaults his girlfriend.

Netflix declined to provide a comment on the matter, while representatives for Clerkenwell Films and Richard Gadd did not respond to Variety's requests for comment at the time of publishing. Harvey's pre-recorded interview with Piers Morgan garnered over 500,000 viewers during its initial broadcast on the talk show host's YouTube channel. With the legal action looming, the truth behind the inspiration for "Baby Reindeer" is yet to be resolved.
