A woman, who is being accused by fans of inspiring the character Martha in Netflix's hit drama "Baby Reindeer," has come forward to address the show's portrayal of her and the alleged consequences she has faced. The unnamed Scottish woman revealed that she has received death threats as a result of the series.

"Baby Reindeer," created and starring Richard Gadd, brings his personal experience of being stalked and sexually abused to screens. The story revolves around a fictionalized version of Gadd named Donny, who becomes obsessively stalked after befriending a woman named Martha in a pub. The show also explores Donny's trauma of being assaulted by a TV executive named Darrien.

Since the release of the show and despite pleas from Gadd and actress Jessica Gunning, fans have been trying to uncover the true identities of the characters that inspired "Baby Reindeer." This situation has deeply affected the woman who fans claim to have inspired Martha, as she disclosed receiving death threats due to her alleged connection to the show.

"I'm the victim here, not Richard Gadd," she told the Daily Record. "I've had death threats as a result of his show, despite many of the things he claimed being untrue." The woman described her state of distress, saying she has been surviving on minimal sleep due to the stress and worry caused by the threats.

Although she admitted to not having watched the series, the woman expressed that she had seen various mentions of it. She also refuted Gadd's claims about her stalking him, asserting that they haven't been in contact for 12 years. The woman stated her shock upon discovering that Gadd had created the show several years ago while searching online.

In addition to criticizing the portrayal of herself in "Baby Reindeer," the woman mentioned that she doesn't think she resembles the actress playing Martha. Her response comes just days after Gadd and Gunning urged viewers not to speculate on the real-life identities of the characters in the show, emphasizing that it goes against the intention of the series.

Gadd used his Instagram to plea for privacy, writing, "Please don't speculate on who any of the real-life people could be. That's not the point of our show." Gunning also discouraged such speculation, stating that it detracts from the true essence of the series.

Meanwhile, some viewers have noticed potential hidden codes in Martha's emails on the show, which seemingly reference the TV series "Lost." However, this aspect was not addressed by the woman in question.

The accusations and ensuing backlash surrounding the real-life identities of the characters in "Baby Reindeer" highlight the potential consequences of blurring lines between fiction and reality. It serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting privacy and understanding the artistic intentions behind such productions.
