In a significant development for the upcoming November elections in Wisconsin, the bipartisan Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) has confirmed that Green Party candidate Jill Stein and independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will both appear on the ballot in the battleground state.

The decision comes in the aftermath of the Wisconsin Supreme Court's dismissal of a challenge to remove Stein from the ballot. WEC chairwoman Ann Jacobs expressed her anticipation of potential further lawsuits against the inclusion of the Green Party on the ballot.

Stein, in a statement, called the court's decision a "big win against the anti-Democratic Party's war on democracy and voter choice," asserting that the Democrats have been actively attempting to remove third-party candidates like the Green Party from the ballot. Conversely, the Republican Party of Wisconsin viewed the court's decision as a victory for preserving voter choice, emphasizing the need for Democrats to persuade voters rather than disqualify candidates.

Meanwhile, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who suspended his presidential campaign and endorsed former President Donald Trump, has sought to remove his name from the ballot in battleground states, including Wisconsin. However, Wisconsin law does not permit Kennedy to retract his nomination at this stage, as anyone who qualifies to appear on the ballot, as Kennedy did, is unable to decline nomination unless in the case of death.

Some commissioners at the WEC meeting questioned Kennedy's request to withdraw his name from the ballot before it was set. Despite concerns, the commission ultimately voted 5-1 to keep Kennedy on the ballot, with Republican appointee Bob Spindell casting the sole dissenting vote. The decision was based on the clear wording of the statute, which leaves no room for discretion.

In addition to Stein and Kennedy, independent candidate Cornel West has also been approved to appear on Wisconsin's ballot. A challenge to West's inclusion, related to notarization issues with his and running mate Melina Abdullah's candidacy declarations, was rejected by the commission in a 5-1 vote.

It is worth noting that West's candidacy in Wisconsin has garnered support from Trump allies, as they believe third-party candidates could potentially aid Trump's chances in the state.

With the WEC's actions on Tuesday, the names of the presidential and vice presidential candidates that will appear on the November 5th election ballot in Wisconsin have been finalized. However, President Joe Biden, who dropped out of the presidential race in July, was able to be replaced on the ballot as the deadline for candidate certification with the WEC had not yet passed.

As the November elections draw near, some Wisconsin voters can expect to receive ballots with the confirmed candidates' names soon. The deadline for clerks to send absentee ballots to voters who have requested them is set for September 19th.

In the coming weeks, Wisconsin voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots and have their voices heard, with Jill Stein, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and other candidates offering alternative choices alongside the major party contenders.
