Winds gusting up to 43 mph created a challenging round 2 at the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia. Players and spectators alike faced an onslaught of sand as it pounded the course, making it difficult to navigate the famed Augusta National Golf Course.

Even seasoned players like Tiger Woods had to battle through the relentless winds, with spectators shielding their faces from the gusts. The sound of sand roaring through the pines added to the already tough playing conditions.

Max Homa, Scottie Scheffler, and Bryson DeChambeau shared the lead going into the weekend, but the brutal weather affected scores, with only one golfer managing to shoot under 70. Homa commented on the challenging conditions, saying, "That was so hard. We got the sand shower to end our day. So it was kind of the golf course saying, 'Get the hell out of here.'"

DeChambeau, who also struggled through the fierce winds, expressed his amazement at the unprecedented weather, stating, "I've never experienced anything like this before. But what a great test."

Interestingly, last year's Masters tournament was interrupted when a massive tree fell on the course, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the weather at Augusta. However, looking ahead, things are looking better for the finals.

Despite the challenging conditions, golf enthusiasts can find solace in the fact that the full forecast for the championship rounds promises more favorable weather. In the meantime, curious readers can explore a slideshow featuring photos of the extraordinary day at the Masters.

As the tournament continues, golfers will undoubtedly be tested not only by their golfing skills but also by the unpredictable Augusta weather.
