**LSU's Whit Weeks' Interception Sparks Dominant Win Over Arkansas**
In a crucial third-quarter moment, LSU sophomore linebacker Whit Weeks made a remarkable play that propelled the Tigers to a commanding victory over Arkansas. With LSU holding on to a one-score lead, Weeks intercepted a pass from quarterback Taylen Green, setting the stage for a significant momentum shift.
Weeks executed an impressive blitz from the left edge, leaping just as Green released the ball. The linebacker managed to deflect the pass, and after a quick tip from defensive back Major Burns, Weeks secured his first career interception. "I saw Major fumbling around with it, so I just grabbed it," Weeks recounted. "I was trying to get in the end zone, but I got tripped up."
Despite not reaching the end zone himself, Weeks' interception positioned LSU at the 2-yard line, paving the way for freshman running back Caden Durham to score on the subsequent play. Followed by a successful 2-point conversion, this sequence extended LSU's lead to 24-10 in what would ultimately be a 34-10 win. "Apparently, it was the backbreaker in the game," noted LSU coach Brian Kelly.
Prior to Weeks' game-changing interception, LSU led narrowly at 16-10. Arkansas had closed the gap with a field goal on their first drive of the second half and looked poised to challenge LSU further. Arkansas coach Sam Pittman had rallied his team at halftime, laying out a plan to tighten the game and pressurize LSU. "It kind of was working out that way," Pittman reflected, "You know we missed an outside rusher that we should've blocked and threw the ball and it got tipped up... it just seemed like we couldn't bounce back from that."
Just after his interception, Weeks continued to make his presence felt. He sacked Green on a crucial third and 10 from the LSU 37, forcing Arkansas to punt. Capitalizing on this, LSU extended their advantage to 27-10 on their next drive. The Razorbacks struggled to mount a comeback as senior defensive lineman Paris Shand followed with another sack of Green. Weeks added a tackle and pressured an incomplete pass, forcing yet another Arkansas punt.
Weeks concluded the game with an outstanding performance, leading the team with nine tackles, one sack, and a pivotal interception. Despite his success, Weeks remained self-critical, mentioning, "I should have made some more plays that I didn't, so I've got to get in the film room and study up some more."
Weeks' impressive outing isn't a novelty this season. He has been a defensive pillar for LSU, leading the team in tackles for two consecutive games, including an 18-tackle performance in an overtime victory over Ole Miss. Accumulating a total of 68 tackles this season, Weeks' energetic and athletic prowess has not gone unnoticed. "I think what stands out is he's active in virtually all of the plays," praised Kelly, "He's an elite player in this league."
