### Walmart Employee Becomes Millionaire After Buying Lottery Ticket on Day Off

A routine day off turned into a life-changing moment for Rebeca Gonzalez, a Walmart employee in Los Angeles County. Called in for a last-minute shift on Labor Day, Gonzalez wasn't thrilled about spending her day off at work. However, her decision to buy a $10 lottery ticket from a California Lottery vending machine as she left for the night changed everything.

"It's incredible," Gonzalez shared with lottery officials. "I was supposed to barbecue with my family, but they needed me for a short three-hour shift."

Despite her reluctance to work that day, fate rewarded her with the $1 million top prize from the Single Double Triple Scratchers game. In addition to her stunning windfall, Walmart will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

With her newfound wealth, Gonzalez and her husband plan to pay off all their debts and finalize the purchase of their new home. Gonzalez, however, has no intentions of leaving her job at Walmart. "I've only told one person at work," she said, referring to the manager who asked her to stay late. "He was in disbelief."

Lottery officials noted that there are lottery machines in all 212 Walmart Supercenters across California, as well as some neighborhood markets. They also highlighted that customers can enter their non-winning tickets into a second chances game for another opportunity to win. To participate, players can visit www.calottery.com/2nd-chance or use the California Lottery mobile app.

Gonzalez’s unexpected win serves as a reminder that sometimes, life’s biggest surprises come when they’re least expected.
