In a town hall event held in Flint, Michigan, voters attending former President Donald Trump's campaign rally expressed their concerns about the recent assassination attempts on the former president. Pointing fingers at the rhetoric used by Democrats, voters highlighted the impact of inflammatory language on such incidents. The event marked Trump's first campaign appearance since the thwarting of an apparent attempt on his life at Trump International Golf Club in Florida on Sunday.

During the town hall, one voter told Fox News Digital, "I don't think gun control is the answer, I think it's the rhetoric... some of the things that are being said shouldn't be said." The sentiment echoed the sentiments of several attendees who felt that political rhetoric has reached an all-time high, causing division and animosity within the nation.

The attempted assassination incident in Florida saw U.S. Secret Service agents successfully intervene when they spotted the shooter, identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, approximately 300-500 yards away from Trump. Their quick response forced Routh to flee the scene, and he was later apprehended on the same day. Fortunately, Trump emerged unharmed from the incident, which was the second time he narrowly escaped an attempt on his life. The earlier incident occurred just over two months ago when he was grazed by a bullet in the ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Trump has openly criticized President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, holding them responsible for the violence and arguing that their "highly inflammatory language" has triggered individuals to act against him. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Trump expressed his belief that the rhetoric of Biden and Harris had influenced the attempted assassins, stating, "Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country, and they are the ones that are destroying the country - both from the inside and out."

The sentiments expressed by voters in Flint mirrored Trump's concerns, with many attributing blame to the Democrats for the attempts on his life. One voter stated, "Democrats continue to say he's a threat to democracy for no reason whatsoever." This sentiment reflects the deep divide and political polarization within the country.

The Trump town hall in Flint comes at a critical time, less than two months before the upcoming November election. Michigan, with its decisive role in determining election outcomes, is once again in the spotlight. As the 2024 campaign trail unfolds, ensuring the safety of political figures amidst heightened tensions and political rhetoric remains a pressing concern.
