Former President Donald Trump is trailing behind Vice President Kamala Harris, according to the latest polling average released on Friday. ABC News' FiveThirtyEight polling indicates that Harris has the support of 45 percent of voters, while Trump garnered 43.5 percent support. Although Harris holds a 1.5-point lead, experts consider it a statistical tie between the two candidates.

ABC News emphasizes that their polling takes into consideration the fact that not all registered voters or adults will participate in the election. To address this, adjustments are made to account for likely voter polls, which contribute to Harris' slight lead. Without these adjustments, the polls would reflect a tie at 44 percent nationally.

As of Saturday afternoon, FiveThirtyEight continues to show Harris leading by 1.5 points. Newsweek has reached out to both Trump's and Harris' campaigns for comment.

These findings come after Trump's nomination as the Republican presidential nominee last month at the Republican National Convention. Following an assassination attempt on Trump on July 13, as well as the RNC, his favorability rating among Americans rose. However, after Biden stepped down from the race and endorsed Harris, Trump now faces new challenges.

Since launching her campaign two weeks ago, Harris has witnessed largely positive poll results. Overall, the aggregated polls indicate that she has closed the gap on Trump compared to when Biden was on the ticket. The Race to the WH website, which combines 128 national polls, reveals that Harris stands at 47 percent compared to Trump's 46.9 percent.

In the latest survey conducted by RMG Research, Harris leads Trump by 5 percentage points (47 to 42 percent) in the national popular vote. The poll, which included 3,000 registered voters, was conducted between July 29 and 31.

However, election analyst and statistician Nate Silver suggests that while Harris is more likely to win the popular vote, Trump has a greater chance of winning the Electoral College. Trump's chances of winning the Electoral College stand at 54.9 percent, while Harris' chances are at 44.6 percent. In terms of the popular vote, Harris has a 53.5 percent chance of winning, while Trump has a 46.5 percent chance.

Silver's model also shows Harris as a slight favorite to win Michigan, with a 54 percent chance. Wisconsin is currently tied, with both candidates having a 50 percent chance of carrying it in November. Trump has a narrow edge in Pennsylvania, with a 53 percent chance of winning, while Harris stands at 47 percent. Trump holds more substantial leads in the swing states of Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and North Carolina.

With the election approaching, the race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump continues to unfold. The outcome remains uncertain as both candidates strive to secure the necessary electoral votes for victory.
