In the latest update from polling expert Nate Silver, Vice President Kamala Harris' lead over former President Donald Trump has seen a slight decrease. Silver, founder of ABC News' poll aggregator FiveThirtyEight, is renowned for his analysis of polling data, making him one of the leading polling analysts in the United States.

According to Silver's polling averages on Sunday, Harris holds a narrow lead over Trump by 2.5 points, with 48.7 percent of the vote compared to Trump's 46.2 percent. However, it is worth noting that Trump has gained 1.1 points since last week, indicating a potential shift in support.

Trump's communications director, Steven Cheung, pointed out this development, sharing a screenshot of Silver's forecast, which suggests that Trump now has a 63.8 percent chance of winning the Electoral College, while Harris has a 36 percent chance.

The popular vote, although important, does not guarantee victory due to the Electoral College system. To secure the presidency, both Harris and Trump will need to secure at least 270 electoral votes. Silver's update places Harris "in dangerous territory in the Electoral College," highlighting the pivotal role swing states will play in November's election.

Examining the battleground states included in Silver's polling averages, Harris maintains a narrow lead of 0.3 points in Pennsylvania (48.2 to 47.9 percent), while Trump has gained 0.9 points since last week. In Michigan, Harris leads by 1.4 points (48.2 to 46.8 percent), despite Trump gaining 0.4 points. Georgia emerges as a closely contested state, with Harris maintaining a slight edge of 0.1 points (48.1 to 48 percent) after Trump's 1-point gain.

While Harris holds a stronger lead of 2.2 points in Wisconsin (49.3 to 47.1 percent), Trump has gained 1.1 points, signaling a potential shift in support. In Nevada, Harris is ahead by a mere 0.5 points (48.5 to 48 percent), with Trump gaining 0.3 points in the state this week.

On the other hand, Trump leads Harris by 1.1 points in North Carolina (49 to 47.9 percent) following a gain of 0.8 points this week. In Arizona, Trump is ahead by 2.1 points (49.3 to 47.2 percent) after gaining 1.5 points from the previous week.

With both national and state polls showing a neck-and-neck race between Harris and Trump, it is clear that the upcoming presidential election promises to be a tightly contested affair. Silver's insights provide valuable analysis as the candidates vie for electoral votes and navigate the unpredictable path to the White House.
