Vice President Kamala Harris has enthusiastically agreed to participate in a debate with former President Donald Trump on October 23. In response to an invitation extended by CNN, Harris expressed her readiness to engage with Trump on a public stage in the midst of the ongoing campaign. Campaign chair Jen O'Malley Dillon issued a statement affirming Harris's preparedness for the debate and urged Trump to accept the challenge, emphasizing that he should have no reservations about facing Harris in a debate setting.

Harris took to Twitter to convey her willingness to partake in a second presidential debate, expressing hope that Trump would also agree to the event scheduled for October 23. In contrast, Trump expressed reluctance to engage in another debate due to the ongoing presidential election, citing that voting had already commenced for the 2024 election. At a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina, Trump reasoned that the timing for another debate was unfavorable given the voting process that was underway.

The potential debate between Trump and Harris would resemble their first encounter earlier in September hosted by ABC in Philadelphia. The debate is slated to take place at CNN's studios in Atlanta and is anticipated to last for 90 minutes without a live studio audience. Both candidates would field questions from moderators during the debate, with the network emphasizing the value of providing the American public with another opportunity to witness a debate between the major contenders in the presidential race. CNN expressed eagerness to receive responses from both campaigns to finalize the arrangements for the upcoming debate.
