### Harris Escalates Attack on Trump, Labels Him 'Unhinged' and 'Fascist'

In a forceful critique of her 2024 presidential election rival, Vice President Kamala Harris delivered sharp remarks against former President Donald Trump. Harris cited claims from retired Marine Gen. John Kelly, Trump’s former Chief of Staff, who recently expressed severe criticism of the former president in a New York Times interview. Standing outside the vice president's residence in Washington, D.C., Harris accused Trump of being "increasingly unhinged and unstable."

Harris did not mince words as she described Trump as a "fascist," referencing Kelly’s allegations that Trump had repeatedly shown admiration for Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Nazi Germany. Hours later, during a CNN town hall event in Pennsylvania, Harris doubled down, affirming her belief that Trump exhibits fascist tendencies. She emphasized that the American electorate values "our democracy and not having a President of the United States who admires dictators."

Trump quickly retaliated on social media, rejecting Kelly’s accusations and dismissing Harris’s comments as a sign of desperation. "Harris is raising her rhetoric, calling me Adolf Hitler and other absurdities," Trump posted, defending his conduct and questioning her motives.

This flare-up is reminiscent of President Biden’s 2020 campaign, which centered on portraying Trump as a serious threat to democracy, underscored by the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. As Biden pivoted to support Harris following his withdrawal from the 2024 race in July, Harris initially adopted a more benign approach. She criticized Trump’s character, calling him an "unserious man" during the Democratic National Convention in August.

However, as Election Day draws closer and the polls remain tight, Harris’s campaign has notably intensified its tone. Last week, she reiterated her concerns about Trump’s temperament and ambitions during several campaign rallies in Wisconsin, warning that Trump seeks "unchecked power."

A senior campaign official announced that Harris is scheduled to make a significant address on the Ellipse next Tuesday, precisely one week before the election. The location holds symbolic weight, as it was the gathering site for Trump's January 6 rally, which proceeded into a violent storming of the U.S. Capitol.

Harris’s strategy aims to appeal to disaffected Republicans, including those who once supported Trump’s primary rival Nikki Haley. By collaborating with prominent anti-Trump Republicans like former Rep. Liz Cheney, Harris hopes to siphon off enough GOP votes in critical battleground states to tilt the election in her favor.
