In a surprising revelation, Utah star quarterback Cam Rising hinted that the 2024 college football season will be his final year in the collegiate ranks. The 25-year-old rising star made his intentions clear during the Big 12 Media Days, expressing that he does not plan to extend his eligibility beyond the seven-year mark.

Rising, who transferred to Utah from Texas in 2019, clarified his stance during a press conference when asked about the possibility of utilizing an eighth year of eligibility. Responding to a question by Brett McMurphy of the Action Network, Rising confidently stated, "that's not the plan," emphasizing that "seven years is more than enough" for him.

Interestingly, Rising is among a select group of players who stand to benefit from a proposed consent decree by the United States Department of Justice. The decree, if accepted, would introduce new regulations that prevent the enforcement of NCAA transfer rules. As a result, Division I student-athletes like Rising, who were deemed ineligible for any portion of a season during or since the 2019-20 academic year, would be granted an additional season of eligibility by the NCAA.
