The United States has been put on high alert as it prepares for a potential attack by Iran in response to Israel's strike on the Iranian embassy in Syria. US and Israeli officials believe that an attack by Iran is "inevitable," but remain uncertain about the exact nature of Iran's response.

A US official disclosed that the country is at a heightened state of vigilance and anticipates a strike could occur as early as next week. The Israeli warplanes targeted Iran's embassy in Damascus, resulting in the death of a senior commander of the Quds Force, Mohammad Reza Zahedi, and seven Iranian military advisors, according to Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Amidst the escalating tension, US President Joe Biden discussed the looming threat with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a phone call. The two leaders have also maintained continuous communication, according to a top administration official. US intelligence data revealed that Iran is preparing a counterattack utilizing a significant number of Shahed loitering drones and cruise missiles, although the specific timing and target remain unknown.

Concerns of retaliation by Iran have been expressed by two representatives from Biden's cabinet. They emphasized that any attacks would be directed towards military and intelligence targets rather than civilians. The New York Times reported that Iran has placed its troops on "full high alert," with the decision to "directly attack Israel" aimed at creating deterrence and seeking revenge for the Syrian airstrike.

In response, a top advisor of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Mohammad Jamshidi, issued a warning to the US government, urging them to stay out of the conflict between Iran and Israel. He emphasized, "Stay away so you won't get hurt," while the US urged Iran not to target American facilities.

The head of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, declared that Tehran's response to Israel's strike on the Iranian embassy in Syria was "inevitable," describing it as a turning point. Meanwhile, Tel Aviv authorities have announced plans to build bunkers in anticipation of potential reprisals from Iran. Additionally, the Israeli army has deployed reserve soldiers to its Aerial Defense Array as a precaution against potential Iranian retaliation.

As tensions continue to escalate between Iran and Israel, the United States remains on high alert, preparing for any potential attack by Iran targeting Israeli and American assets in the region. The situation remains fluid, with uncertainties surrounding the precise nature and timing of Iran's retaliation.
