This marks the fifty-eighth tranche of equipment to be provided from DoD inventories for Ukraine since August 2021 under the Presidential Drawdown Authorities utilized by the Biden Administration.
Valued at approximately $275 million, this Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) package is aimed at bolstering Ukraine's capabilities to fend off Russia's assault near Kharkiv. The assistance package includes a range of critically needed equipment, such as additional precision strike rockets for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), artillery rounds, air-launched munitions, and anti-tank weapons.
The latest security assistance package authorized by President Biden is the fifth of its kind since signing the national security supplemental last month. It is also the third package made possible through Presidential Drawdown Authorities. This demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the Biden Administration to provide support to Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.
With this package, the United States reaffirms its commitment to work hand in hand with approximately 50 Allies and partners to ensure Ukraine's brave defenders have access to the necessary capabilities to counter Russian aggression. The assistance will enhance Ukraine's ability to address pressing battlefield needs and maintain its defensive capabilities.
The announcement of this $275 million security assistance package is a reflection of the ongoing dedication of the United States to Ukraine's security and defense. As Russia's actions continue to threaten regional stability, the international community remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The DoD's provision of much-needed equipment and capabilities will bolster Ukraine's defense efforts and help safeguard its people. This assistance package will play a crucial role in deterring further aggression and assisting Ukraine in countering any potential threats to its security.
As the US and its partners join forces to support Ukraine, the international community sends a strong message that attempts to undermine Ukraine's sovereignty will not go unchallenged. Together, they strive to uphold peace and stability in the region and ensure that Ukraine's defenders have the resources they need to safeguard their country from Russian aggression.
