Unsealed Documents Reveal Barr Dismissed Trump's Election Fraud Claims as 'Crazy'

" This insight emerged from nearly 2,000 pages of prosecution documents unsealed by Judge Tanya Chutkan on Friday, despite objections from Trump's legal team who argued it could harm his presidential campaign.
The materials indicate that Barr explicitly told Trump during a November 23, 2020 meeting that his assertions about Dominion voting machines being manipulated were baseless. These revelations suggest Barr may be called to testify against Trump, potentially becoming the first attorney general to do so. "The one I specifically remember addressing were the Dominion machines," Barr recounted to Representative Liz Cheney during a June 2022 session with the January 6 Committee.
Trump, however, ignored Barr's advice and continued to propagate the false narrative that Dominion Voting Systems tampered with the election results to favor Joe Biden. This unfounded claim has precipitated numerous multibillion-dollar lawsuits against Trump's allies. For example, Fox News settled a lawsuit with Dominion for nearly $800 million, and Dominion has ongoing legal actions against Rudy Giuliani, Mike Lindell, and others.
Despite pleas from Trump's lawyers, who warned that releasing the new evidence could endanger witnesses and harm Trump's campaign, Judge Chutkan proceeded to unseal additional documents. Notably, Trump's legal team criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for allegedly utilizing the case's released evidence in her YouTube campaign ads for the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election.
Earlier, on October 2, a 165-page evidence brief was unsealed by Judge Chutkan, revealing significant allegations regarding Trump's actions during the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. The documents illustrated Trump's apparent disregard for then-Vice President Mike Pence's safety and detailed his attempts to support a flawed report alleging voter machine fraud in Michigan—a report the Republican National Committee chairwoman outrightly rejected, calling it "f****** nuts."
The information unsealed on Friday includes a substantial appendix to the previously released brief, now publicly accessible for the first time. These documents outline accusations against Trump of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction and attempted obstruction of an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights. These charges are linked to an alleged pressure campaign Trump waged on state officials to overturn the 2020 election results.
Trump has denied all charges and consistently maintained that he is the target of a political vendetta. He claims that Special Counsel Jack Smith’s legal actions are attempts to meddle in the 2024 presidential election by prosecuting him.
