In a heroic act of bravery, a University of South Carolina student is being praised for his quick thinking and decisive action after taking control of a charter bus following a crash in Hancock County, Mississippi. The incident occurred on Friday, leaving eleven people injured, including the bus driver and another student who were airlifted from the scene in critical condition, according to the police.

The charter bus, carrying 56 students from the University of South Carolina, was en route to New Orleans, Louisiana for an event when it collided with a center concrete barrier on Interstate 10 around 3 p.m. local time, authorities reported. The impact caused the bus to lose control, leaving it without a driver and continuing to move uncontrollably.

Fortunately, a young man named Paul Clune, a student with Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, rose to the occasion and demonstrated his courage by swiftly grabbing hold of the steering wheel, effectively regaining control of the bus. Clune's heroic intervention finally brought the bus to a safe stop, preventing further damage and potential harm to those on board.

The University of South Carolina confirmed that the bus was transporting fraternity members and guests to their intended event in New Orleans. The university expressed their thoughts and support for the students involved in the accident and those impacted by it.

Following the crash, the remaining students at the scene were transported to a nearby school building where arrangements were made for their onward transportation, as stated by the police. While the exact cause of the crash remains unknown, preliminary information suggests that a mechanical failure may have played a role, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper Cal Robertson.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol has launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause and hold any responsible parties accountable. As the authorities work diligently to uncover the facts, the community and University of South Carolina stand united in their support for the injured and their families, hoping for a quick recovery.

This extraordinary display of bravery by Paul Clune serves as a reminder of the heroism that can emerge in times of crisis. His actions have undoubtedly saved lives and ensured the safety of his fellow passengers.
