### Town of Hanson Issues Cease-and-Desist for Unauthorized "Trump 2024" Projection

The town of Hanson, Massachusetts has formally directed a property owner to cease projecting a "Trump 2024" sign onto a municipal water tower. The town, through a cease-and-desist letter, emphasized that it neither endorses political candidates nor permits political signage on public property.

Town Administrator Lisa Green disclosed that officials became aware of the projection on October 11. The display, which supported Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, was beamed from the resident’s property, leading to the town's concern that the public might misinterpret it as an approved or sanctioned act.

"This misleads the public into believing that this activity is sanctioned by or condoned by the town," Green stated in a recent communication. Town officials have refrained from revealing the identity of the individual behind the projection.

The town has mandated a daily fine of $100 until the projection is halted. According to town officials, these fines have been accumulating, but they are unlikely to cover the extensive costs incurred by the municipality. The expenses relate to attorney fees, additional labor costs for managing the spotlight that obscures the projection at night, and possibly the acquisition of more advanced lighting equipment.

The Highway Department has already taken interim measures by setting up a spotlight to shine on the tower, making it more challenging to view the projection during nighttime. Despite these actions, officials expressed concerns about the ongoing financial burden on taxpayers attributed to this issue.
