UFC middleweight fighter Chris Curtis endured a major setback during his recent thrilling showdown against Brendan Allen, as he suffered a Grade 3 tear in his hamstring. The injury occurred in the final moments of their closely contested fight, which took place last weekend at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas.

Curtis, 36, posted on social media, revealing the extent of his injury and expressing his eagerness to gather more information about his recovery process. His representatives at Iridium Sports Agency confirmed that they are exploring various options for his rehabilitation.

An MRI scan conducted earlier this week confirmed that Curtis had sustained a Grade 3 tear, which represents a near-complete tear of the hamstring muscle. The severity of the injury means that the fighter's recovery timeframe will depend on whether or not he requires surgery.

If Curtis can avoid surgery, his expected return to the octagon would be in approximately six to eight weeks. However, if surgery becomes necessary, his recovery period could extend to around six months. Curtis and his team will carefully evaluate the best course of action to ensure a successful recovery.

The intense 185-pound fight between Curtis and Allen captivated audiences throughout its five rounds. Both fighters displayed commendable skills and determination, with Curtis relentlessly pushing forward while Allen capitalized on several significant takedowns. The bout was a rematch of their 2021 encounter, which Curtis had won via TKO. In light of the recent outcome, Curtis has already expressed his desire for a trilogy fight in the future.

Despite the loss, Curtis maintains his position as the UFC's No. 14-ranked middleweight. Allen, on the other hand, holds the No. 6 spot in the rankings.

Curtis' recent performance has left his record at 31-11, with a 2-3 record in his last five contests. The fighter's remarkable resilience and competitive spirit make him a force to be reckoned with in the UFC middleweight division. Fans and fellow fighters alike will be eagerly awaiting updates on his recovery and eventual return to the octagon.
