**U.S. Issues Warning for Travelers to Rwanda Amid Health and Safety Concerns**

Americans considering a trip to Rwanda may want to reassess their plans. The U.S. State Department has issued a "Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution" advisory for American travelers heading to this African nation.

This heightened alert is largely due to an outbreak of Marburg Virus Disease reported in Rwandan health facilities. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also responded by issuing a Level 2 Practice Enhanced Health Precautions notice for those traveling to Rwanda. The highly infectious Marburg virus poses significant health risks, necessitating increased vigilance among visitors.

Adding to the concern, there have been multiple incidents involving armed violence within Rwanda, particularly in areas close to the border with Burundi. These security threats have contributed to the State Department's decision to update its travel advisory. Americans are specifically urged to reconsider travel to the Rwanda-Democratic Republic of the Congo border area due to ongoing armed conflicts.

In light of these concerns, the State Department advises American travelers to Rwanda to stay updated on travel advisories and to make contingency plans in case of emergency situations. Travelers should remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions to protect their health and safety while in the country.
