Liberty County Fire Chief Brian Darby expressed his grief, stating that the department was devastated by the loss of two dedicated and diligent firefighters. He emphasized that their colleagues' thoughts and prayers are with the families during this incredibly difficult time.
Authorities believe that one of the missing firefighters, Anderson, may have been accompanied by Kuhbander, who was also reported missing in Liberty County. Last week, Hinesville police had posted information on Facebook regarding their disappearance. Anderson's vehicle, a black 2017 Ford Focus, was last spotted in Richmond Hill, Georgia before it was ultimately found in Tennessee. Kuhbander's vehicle, on the other hand, was located in Savannah, Georgia.
With Cocke County, Tennessee, being approximately 400 miles away from Midway, Georgia, the circumstances of how the firefighters ended up in Tennessee remain unclear. The ongoing investigation aims to shed light on this mystery and provide answers to their grieving families.
As the investigation continues, the tight-knit firefighting community mourns the loss of two of their own. The tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the inherent risks that firefighters face every day as they selflessly protect and serve their communities.
