In a recent post on his social media platform, Truth Social, former President Donald Trump expressed his willingness to violate the extended gag order in his upcoming hush money trial. Trump even stated that he would be prepared to serve jail time if found guilty of violating the order. The trial, scheduled to begin jury selection on April 15 in New York City, revolves around allegations that Trump committed fraud by concealing payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels prior to the 2016 election.

Trump, the presumptive GOP candidate, specifically targeted Judge Juan Merchan, who granted the expanded gag order against him. Trump has repeatedly criticized Merchan and accused him of bias. The former President went on to question the judge's selection for the case, suggesting that Merchan fought hard to be assigned to it.

The gag order was imposed to protect jurors, witnesses, and investigators from any potential threats or intimidation from Trump's supporters. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg initially requested the order due to the President's history of making violent threats. Despite this, Trump continued to make public statements against Merchan and even posted the judge's daughter's name and photos, despite her lack of involvement in the case.

Trump also took the opportunity to address his ongoing defamation case filed by writer E. Jean Carroll, which resulted in an $83 million verdict against him. The ex-President is currently in the process of appealing the ruling.

In his scathing online remarks, Trump accused Merchan of violating his First Amendment rights and attempting to suppress the truth behind the gag order. He lashed out at the judge, referring to him as a "crooked" and "biased" individual, and expressed frustration at what he perceives as a biased court system in favor of President Joe Biden.

As the hush money trial looms closer, Trump's defiance of the gag order raises questions about the potential consequences he may face in the legal proceedings. It remains to be seen how the court will respond to Trump's statements and whether his actions will result in additional legal repercussions.
