### Trump Doubles Down on Remarks About "Enemy from Within," Targets Pelosi and Schiff
Former President Donald Trump continues to amplify his controversial comments about the "enemy from within," placing Democratic Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff in his crosshairs. Trump's persistent rhetoric escalated during a recent Fox News interview with Howard Kurtz, where he explicitly named Pelosi and Schiff as part of this alleged internal threat.
Previously, on October 13, Trump made alarming statements about "radical left lunatics" and suggested that these internal enemies could be effectively dealt with by the National Guard or, if necessary, by the military. These remarks were not isolated, as similar statements were made by Trump on September 3 and October 16.
In the Fox News interview, Trump criticized Schiff for his role in the investigation into Trump Jr.'s meeting in June 2016 with a person he believed to be a "Russian government attorney." Trump Jr.'s willingness to accept potentially incriminating information on Hillary Clinton, highlighted in his email response "If it's what you say I love it," was a critical point of Schiff’s investigation. Trump called Schiff an "enemy from within," accusing him of fabricating the Russia collusion narrative.
Pelosi was also labeled an "enemy from within" by Trump. He accused her of failing to protect the Capitol on January 6, contradicting her own stated responsibilities. Revisiting the events of January 6, Trump maintained false assertions about the size of the crowd at the Save America rally and reiterated his disputed claims about the nature of the Capitol attack, calling it a protest against a "rigged election."
Trump's remarks about January 6 sparked further controversy. Despite significant documented violence and the prosecution of over 1,200 individuals, Trump described the day as one of "love" and lamented the treatment of those involved compared to other protest groups.
When confronted by Kurtz about the violent actions of the January 6 mob, Trump falsely claimed that no guns were present at the rally and denied any fatalities, despite evidence to the contrary. PolitiFact's review and testimony from former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson indicated that some rioters were armed and that Trump was aware of this fact, even demanding the removal of security screeners to allow armed supporters closer to his speech.
Trump’s persistent and misleading comments continue to draw significant criticism and concern about their impact on public perception and the ongoing discourse regarding the events of January 6 and the state of American democracy.
