### Trump Confirms Mass Deportation Plan Involves National Emergency and Military

President-elect Donald Trump has confirmed that his strategy for mass deportations of undocumented immigrants will include a national emergency declaration and the use of military forces. Trump responded with a resounding "TRUE!!!" to a social media post by a conservative activist regarding such reports. This confirmation comes as Trump prepares to announce additional Cabinet appointments, despite some of his recent nominations facing substantial scrutiny.

One of Trump's contentious Cabinet picks is Matt Gaetz, nominated for attorney general. The House Ethics Committee is set to discuss a report on Gaetz this Wednesday, following allegations of sexual misconduct, illegal drug use, and acceptance of improper gifts. Gaetz resigned from the House last week, and both Republican and Democratic senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee have expressed a desire to review the Ethics Committee's findings before proceeding with his nomination.

Another of Trump's recent selections is Chris Wright for energy secretary. Trump also plans to nominate former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee as the U.S. ambassador to Israel, who stated that the administration aims to normalize relations between Israel and more Arab states while renewing stringent economic sanctions on Iran.

Amid his ongoing battles with the media, Trump has continued to label the press as "fake news" but emphasized the importance of a free, fair, and open media in an interview with Fox News. On the economic front, Trump's advisors are exploring significant changes to federal safety net programs to mitigate the high cost of extending the 2017 tax cuts.

Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida is expected to decide by January on a replacement for Senator Marco Rubio if the Senate confirms Rubio as the next Secretary of State. Simultaneously, Senator Tim Scott has advised President Joe Biden to halt financial and housing rulemaking processes in light of Trump's election victory.

Trump's treasury secretary search faces delays as top contenders Scott Bessent and Howard Lutnick are now seen as unlikely to secure the position. In contrast, Senator Tom Cotton has played down the possibility of using recess appointments for Trump's Cabinet nominees, predicting that the Senate will work efficiently to confirm the appointments without such measures.

Lastly, Trump's economic plans include imposing tariffs on all foreign goods, a move that contrasts with traditional economic theories about U.S. trade deficits. As Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer rushes to confirm President Joe Biden's remaining judicial nominees, the number of judicial vacancies Trump could fill when he takes office remains uncertain, potentially standing at 36 compared to the 108 vacancies he inherited in 2017.
