In a surprising twist, a past donation made by Donald Trump to Vice President Kamala Harris has resurfaced following Joe Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race. Trump, known for his derisive nickname of "Laffin' Kamala Harris," now finds himself confronting an awkward truth related to a $5,000 check bearing his distinctive signature and made payable to "Attorney General Kamala D Harris" on September 26, 2011.

Within hours of Biden's historic decision, this uncomfortable donation came to light once again on social media. Democratic congressman Jared Moskowitz shared a photo of the check, sarcastically stating, "Was a wise investment." Even Michael Steele, the former chair of the Republican National Committee, chimed in, jesting that when Trump had written the check, he couldn't have predicted Harris would "cash it in 2024!"

Interestingly, this $5,000 donation wasn't the only gift the Trump family bestowed upon Harris during her time as California's top prosecutor. Public records held by the California secretary of state reveal additional financial contributions. Alongside the largest donation of $5,000 in September 2011, there is also a record of a $1,000 check bestowed by Trump to Harris in February 2013 during the start of her re-election campaign as the state's attorney general. Moreover, the records indicate that Trump's daughter, Ivanka, contributed $2,000 to Harris's re-election committee in June 2014.

The existence of these financial contributions, totaling $8,000 from the Trump family to Harris's political campaign, may prove to be a challenging footnote for Trump on the campaign trail. It had already been a topic of discussion during the 2020 presidential campaign when Harris served as Biden's running mate.

In fact, during that time, Fox News delved into court documents to uncover the circumstances surrounding the $5,000 donation. Their investigation revealed that Trump made the payment at the request of Eric Schneiderman, New York's former top prosecutor, who hosted a fundraiser for Harris in September 2011. Ivanka Trump even attended the event, explaining why the payment was made at the top price of $5,000.

Despite a snarky remark made by Steele, it is important to note that Harris will not be able to utilize the $5,000 donation for her potential 2024 presidential campaign if she secures the Democratic nomination. The Sacramento Bee reported in 2020 that she had given away the entire $6,000 received from Trump as she embarked on her run for the U.S. Senate, generously donating it to a civil rights non-profit organization working in Central America.

As Trump refocuses his campaign to target Harris, these financial contributions from his past may continue to haunt him on the campaign trail. Only time will tell how this revelation may impact the ongoing political developments.
