The Republican National Convention is set to commence on Monday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where Republicans from all over the country will gather to formalize the nomination of former President Donald Trump. However, the recent assassination attempt against Trump has raised concerns about the security of the event.

The Secret Security officials have reassured the public that they have been working on the security plan for the convention for over a year and that it will remain in place despite the shooting incident. Trump himself took to social media to announce that he would not delay his trip to Wisconsin, stating that he would not allow an assailant to dictate any changes to the conference's schedule.

While Trump's nomination is seen as a formality, speculation is rife about who he will choose as his running mate. Sources familiar with the planning have revealed that Trump will announce his vice presidential pick before the roll call vote to nominate the ticket later in the day.

The roll call delegate count is expected to begin on Monday afternoon, where around 2,400 delegates from across the country will officially nominate Trump. States will declare the number of delegates they will be delivering to each candidate. Trump is scheduled to accept the nomination in a speech on Thursday.

Each day of the convention will revolve around a specific theme, with Monday's theme being "Make America Wealthy Once Again." This theme highlights the economic policies of the Trump administration and the promise of prosperity if he returns to office.

The convention will feature a diverse group of speakers, including lawmakers, television personalities, and artists, alongside members of Trump's family. While Trump's wife, Melania Trump, and daughter, Ivanka Trump, have not been named as speakers, his two older sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, are scheduled to speak, along with their respective partners Kimberly Guilfoyle and Lara Trump. Notable figures from the entertainment industry, such as country music stars Lee Greenwood and Chris Janson, as well as rapper Amber Rose, will also take the stage. Political figures like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former Trump primary rival Nikki Haley will be among the lineup of speakers.

Coverage of the convention will be provided by CBS television stations, starting at 10 p.m. ET each night. CBS News 24/7 will have comprehensive coverage throughout the day, streaming the keynote speeches each evening, which can be accessed on mobile or streaming devices.

As the convention commences amidst heightened security concerns, all eyes will be on Milwaukee as the Republican Party formally nominates Donald Trump for another presidential run.
