Former President Donald Trump has seen a significant surge in popularity, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports poll. In a five-person race that included President Joe Biden and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump's lead over Biden has nearly doubled, reaching 46% for Trump, 36% for Biden, and 9% for Kennedy. Last month, Trump held a 6-point lead over Biden, with 44% to 38%.

The recent poll not only highlights Trump's increased support but also sheds light on his ability to maintain strong backing from traditionally Democratic-voting demographics. Despite typically leaning towards the Democratic Party, black voters showed a notable shift in support, with 21% favoring Trump compared to Biden's 61%. Similarly, Hispanic voters favored Trump over Biden, with a margin of 41% to 33%.

Trump's Super PAC has capitalized on this wave of popularity, targeting black men in rural Georgia counties with an advertisement campaign. The advertisement seeks to further engage this demographic, playing a crucial role in Trump's strategy moving forward.

While the analysis of the survey does not explicitly explain the reasons behind Trump's surge, it coincides with his active presence in the media. Trump has been holding daily press conferences outside a New York City court where a hush money trial against him is taking place. These press conferences have gained significant media coverage, especially from left-leaning outlets such as CNN. Additionally, Trump has been actively discussing his second term agenda, significantly impacting his supporters' excitement and enthusiasm.

In contrast, President Biden has garnered criticism over the economy, rising inflation, and high prices, which have fueled public anger. Biden's Middle East policies have also sparked campus protests, resulting in further political setbacks for the President.

Rasmussen's national poll aligns with other surveys that have shown Trump leading in key battleground states, which are expected to play a significant role in determining the final outcome of the 2024 election. It is worth noting that Rasmussen's model closely reflects the demographics of the 2020 race, with a slightly higher percentage of Democrats. Of those surveyed, 35% identified as Democrats, 33% as Republicans, and 32% as independents.

Furthermore, the survey delved into voter enthusiasm, revealing that 71% of likely voters are excited about casting their ballots in the upcoming November elections. However, Democrats seem to be less enthusiastic than Republicans, with a 10-point difference of 71% to 81%. Particularly, younger and liberal voters, who form Biden's support base, displayed the least amount of enthusiasm, according to the analysis.

As the 2024 election approaches, Trump's growing support, especially from traditionally Democratic-voting demographics such as black and Hispanic voters, could prove pivotal in securing his candidacy. These findings highlight the need for both Trump and Biden to focus on their respective platforms and engage with voters on key issues as they seek to secure their positions in the race for the White House.
