### Trump Labels Pelosi and Schiff as "Enemies from Within," Sparking Debate Among Republicans

In a recent interview on Fox News' "MediaBuzz," former President Donald Trump branded Democratic Representatives Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi as "enemies from within." Trump's statements have intensified debates within the Republican party, as his allies attempt to reframe or clarify his remarks.

Trump’s heated rhetoric came during an exchange with Fox News host Howard Kurtz, who asked the former president to clarify his stance. Trump reinforced his position, labeling Schiff explicitly as an enemy. He further accused Pelosi of failing to protect the U.S. Capitol during the January 6, 2021, insurrection, falsely alleging that she declined an offer of 10,000 National Guard troops—a claim refuted by multiple sources.

CNN has consistently reported that the Speaker of the House does not oversee Capitol security, a responsibility that lies with the Capitol Police Board. Furthermore, Trump's former acting Defense Secretary, Chris Miller, testified that there was no formal order from Trump to deploy National Guard troops to the Capitol on that day.

In a separate Fox News interview with Maria Bartiromo on "Sunday Morning Futures," Trump suggested that the military might need to intervene against what he called the "enemy from within" on Election Day. This comment has been seized upon by Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign, portraying Trump as dangerous and unstable. The campaign has featured his remarks prominently in new advertisements and at rallies nationwide.

Republican figures have since scrambled to manage the fallout from Trump’s comments. House Speaker Mike Johnson argued that Trump’s statements were misinterpreted, insisting he was referencing criminal gangs, not political opponents. Johnson emphasized that Trump had not suggested using the military against Democrats like Schiff specifically.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin also attempted to reinterpret Trump's words, suggesting they referred to criminal activities by individuals crossing the border. However, CNN host Jake Tapper highlighted that Trump had clearly targeted the "radical left," including Schiff, who he described as "a total sleazebag" and "an enemy from within."

With Republicans divided over how to handle Trump’s inflammatory language, the debate continues to expose fractures within the party, raising questions about its direction and unity heading into future elections.
