Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the notice warns the production team against pursuing a distribution deal within the United States, according to a report published by Variety on Friday.

Trump's representative, Steven Cheung, strongly condemned the film, labeling it as "pure malicious defamation." He asserted that the film should not see the light of day and deemed it unworthy even of securing a place in the straight-to-DVD section of a discount movie store. Cheung expressed his belief that the film belongs in a dumpster fire.

However, the producers of "The Apprentice" film responded to the cease-and-desist letter by asserting that the film offers a fair and balanced portrayal of the former president. They expressed their desire for everyone to watch the film and make their own judgement.

Earlier this week, The New York Post reported that Trump's campaign was considering filing a lawsuit against the filmmakers. Cheung pointed out that the film's release, coinciding with Trump's preparations to face President Joe Biden, could be viewed as election interference. He argued that Hollywood elites are attempting to sway the outcome of the election by promoting content against Trump.

The controversial film reportedly follows Trump's ascent as a real estate mogul after his encounter with lawyer and mentor Roy Cohn, played by Jeremy Strong. Numerous disturbing and embarrassing allegations are portrayed in the film, including scenes depicting Trump undergoing liposuction and a hair transplant. Additionally, the film features a moment where Trump violently rapes his ex-wife, Ivana Trump.

It is worth noting that Ivana Trump retracted this claim in 2015 after Trump announced his candidacy for the US presidency. The former couple has three children together - Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump.

Cheung dismissed the film as "pure fiction" and accused it of sensationalizing long-debunked lies. However, he did not respond to Page Six's request for comment regarding the cease-and-desist letter.

As the controversy surrounding "The Apprentice" film unfolds, the legal battle between Trump's team and the filmmakers is likely to intensify. Both sides continue to stand firmly behind their positions, creating further anticipation and curiosity surrounding the release and distribution of the deeply divisive biopic.
