In a bid to secure Minnesota's support, former President Donald Trump is planning a rally in St. Cloud, accompanied by his running mate JD Vance. With expectations of facing Vice President Kamala Harris in November's election, Trump hopes to sway the state that has historically leaned towards Democrats.

Earlier on the same day, Trump addressed a bitcoin conference in Nashville, Tennessee, outlining his commitment to embracing cryptocurrency if elected. He promised to position the United States as a "bitcoin superpower" and establish a strategic reserve using the digital currency. This marks a significant shift in Trump's stance on cryptocurrencies, as he had previously criticized their value and volatility. His campaign has also started accepting donations in cryptocurrency.

Minnesota, a state where Trump narrowly missed defeating Hillary Clinton in 2016, saw a wider margin of victory for Joe Biden in the 2020 election. However, Trump remains optimistic about his chances in the state, characterizing it as a battleground where he compares favorably to Biden. In a memo to his campaign and the Republican National Committee, Trump's political director James Blair highlighted Minnesota's importance and the campaign's efforts to establish a presence, including the potential opening of eight offices.

Appealing to Midwesterners and union workers has been a key focus for Trump's campaign, leading to his selection of JD Vance as his running mate. Vance's roots in a Rust Belt city, coupled with his ability to connect with blue-collar workers, make him an asset in reaching out to this demographic. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who has also capitalized on this appeal, is among the candidates being considered as a potential running mate for Harris.

The St. Cloud rally will take place at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center, an indoor venue chosen due to safety concerns following an assassination attempt on Trump during an outdoor rally in Pennsylvania. However, Trump recently announced plans for future outdoor stops, assuring increased security measures from the Secret Service.

While Trump campaigns in Minnesota, the Biden-Harris campaign remains confident in their stronghold on the state. Lexi Byler, the communications director for the Harris campaign in Minnesota, highlighted the values of Minnesotans and stated that the state is unlikely to be won by a Republican presidential candidate this year. Democrats are mobilizing supporters through a well-coordinated campaign and thousands of volunteers, aiming to re-elect Kamala Harris.

As the upcoming election approaches, all eyes are on Minnesota, where Donald Trump aims to reclaim the state from the Democrats. With his focus on appealing to Midwesterners, embracing cryptocurrency, and rallying his base, Trump is determined to turn the tide and secure a crucial victory in November.
